The Prettiest Views in the Great Smoky Mountains

Whether your goal is to treat your special someone to a romantic spot or escape into a picturesque world of natural wonder, the Great Smoky Mountains won’t disappoint! Their diversity of deciduous forest wildlife and calming seasonal colors make them one of the top destinations in the U.S. South. Catch some of the most gorgeous views in the area at these Gatlinburg attractions and surrounding area activities.

Ober Gatlinburg

Although it is known as Tennessee’s top skiing and snowboarding destination, Ober Gatlinburg provides family-friendly rides, games and adventures throughout every season of the year. No matter when you plan to visit, you can’t miss out on the beautiful sights from the Aerial Tramway and Scenic Chairlift at Ober Gatlinburg.

Aerial Tramway

Why drive to Ober Gatlinburg when you can take a more scenic means of transportation? The Aerial Tramway is one of the largest in America, measuring just over two miles long from downtown Gatlinburg to the amusement park and ski area. This enclosed cable car can hold up to 120 people and rises 1,500 feet in elevation amid stunning views of the mountains and downtown Gatlinburg. Catch the tramway every twenty minutes at the intersection of the Parkway and LeConte Street.

Scenic Chairlift

For a more private or romantic viewing experience, be sure to check out the Scenic Chairlift. This two-person chairlift whisks you up to the top of Mount Harrison for breathtaking views of Douglas Lake and Mount LeConte. As the longest chairlift in the U.S., Ober Gatlinburg’s Scenic Chairlift gives you plenty of time to take photos and stop at the peak for a look through the binoculars.

Gatlinburg Space Needle

As a 407-foot structure reaching up toward the heavens, the Gatlinburg Space Needle is aptly named. Visitors are welcome any time of year to ride the glass elevator to the very top of the tower, where an observation deck gives way to terrific scenery in 360 degrees. The whole family will enjoy the educational programming while taking photos and spotting black bears through the viewfinders.

After a romantic sunset gaze, get a headstart on your night in the lower levels by competing at arcade games, grabbing a bite at the Slice Pizza Bakery, or settling in for a show at the Iris Theatre. The Gatlinburg Space Needle is an easy and accessible way to see sky-high panoramas of the Smoky Mountains and downtown Gatlinburg with lots more entertainment awaiting after the trip back down.

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park

Since 1954, the SkyLift has been sweeping folks off their feet to the top of Crockett Mountain for some of the best views in the region. This scenic chairlift carries up to three people and glides 500 feet in the air until you reach the SkyBridge. As the longest suspension bridge for pedestrians in North America, the SkyBridge is both a scenic overlook and a gutsy challenge. The bridge rests at 150 feet in the air and contains glass panels for 30 feet that allow you to see directly below your step. Once the chairlift returns you to the SkyDeck, you can relax in the open-air viewing area complete with fire pits, comfortable seating, and more splendid vistas of the Smokies, or sit down for pizza, ice cream and beer at the SkyCenter.

The Swinging Bridge to Prosperity

Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park contains multiple days’ worth of family-friendly activities, including ziplining, ATV tours, camping, whitewater rafting and hiking tours. Hike wherever your heart leads you through 150 acres of deciduous forests, crisp waterfalls, and llama and cow pastures, and you’re bound to come across the Swinging Bridge to Prosperity. This colossal bridge is known as America’s second longest swinging bridge, stretching across a whopping 335 feet — further than a football field! Take a leisurely stroll across the bridge with your significant other or your furry best friend and revel in the magnificent spectacles of Foxfire Gorge and the Little Pigeon River.

As a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains, the Smokies are part of the oldest mountain range in the world and contain some of the most spectacular views. Imagine sipping on authentic Tennessee whiskey while watching the sunset over the red and gold autumnal forests; or feel the tension in your shoulders wash away as you take in the crisp spring air and the tranquil sight of hazy mountains gently unfurling for miles. It’s no wonder thousands visit the Great Smoky Mountains every year to witness natural beauty unlike anywhere else on the planet! яндекс
